Letter to Cyril Ramaphosa

Dear Mr Ramaphosa,
Your public announcement’s this week mark a decisive turn from your usual role as the mute DP. Perhaps having given the Marikana massacre enough ‘silent time’ has made you want to come out into the light.
Alternatively, could this be waning support for Shower Head within the caucus or are you trying to put up a more palatable front for the people* especially in light of a Provincial Government election around the corner?
I think it is a little bit of the latter.
I think the ANC has got you to do two very clever things;
this kind of spin must have come from deep within the recesses of Luthuli House ‘s desperation for it to be so utterly bold and arrogant.
Here is an attempted reconstruction of what must have been your brief if we  draw from your current public utterances:
First, Comrade you will tell the voters how the ANC is cracking down on any attempts at state capture by any nefarious third party. Oh and don’t forget to tell the events planner that Indian food will no longer be an option at state luncheons.
You will say how this is an outrage, how despicable it is that we could have got to this point. But you will make no mention of how the internal ANC structures sat on this mess for years. That would kind of defeat the point.
We must try and distance the ANC image from the Guptas even though they currently are in bed with us. Also, side note, please ask Busi to change the sheets.
Secondly, you must reassure the voters that we are gunning for any white-owned enterprises, please Baba, make sure you point out that the whites have enjoyed too much control over the economy for too long, even though
Gedley’hlekisa Zuma destroyed the economy in one day, and that we have done fokol for the voters since he came into power.
Please also do not mention our failure with basic education among others, and how in spite of our shoddy work the black middle class has grown exponentially. We must make them still feel like victims, Comrade.
Mr Ramaphosa please do not insult the intelligence of the people your government has continued to try and keep in the dark.
Your Zuma might throw his caucus under the bus, but you cannot throw us the people of South Africa under the bus. We won’t be divided to make up for your utter failure to run a country (as the meme says, “You had one job!”).
You will not pit people against each other, you will not shield Zuma. We the people are coming for you, the ANC.
IZWE LETHU
* One should say voters; ANC doesn’t give two fucks about the people, just look at their service delivery track record. No, they see people as numbers, nothing more.
