Cry Racist in South Africa?

Zuma is very much concerned and worried about the media tendency in South Africa to report the negativity or only the bad news. Although Zuma is president of this country; it seems he is from a different planet - a planet only he knows where it is. Because, if he was indeed from South Africa, he would know that South Africa is indeed captivated by a culture of negativity. But who’s fault is it Zuma? Certainly not the media’s fault. They are not responsible for corruption, crime, farm killings, rape, murder, poor service delivery on all levels of government, the collapse of health services in the country, petrol price sky-rocketing, all roads in South Africa deteriorating  except the etoll-roads, and so forth, and so forth.

So, with this concern of Zuma in my head that the media was only reporting the negative or bad things, I was watching SABC2 news (AKA His Master’s Voice) last night, the 7 O’clock bulletin when out of the blue it was reported of a domestic worker in Cape Town who laid criminal charges against her employer for racial abuse over many years. A big thing was made of it. The poor victim on camera, swearing, with her black lawyer in his robe for all to see complaining about the racial abuse. So sad. And then they switched to the employer and he was surprised that she is still working for him in spite of all his atrocities against her - cry racist?

But, do not get me wrong, I am not saying it is not true. What I am saying is that the SABC can stop wasting my license fee on such trivial matters. If not, then they should also waste money on black-on-white racial incidents, like the farm killings, like a black person breaking into a white person’s house only to murder, no intention of stealing or any other crime.

And, the punch line is, Zuma should start at the SABC first to clean up their act of wasting time and money on trivial negative news!

PS: One fact is for certain - Zuma is indeed concerned. As you can see on the photo, he is even depressed because of it!!
